African Sustainable Agriculture Research Institute (ASARI) at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University LAAYOUNE (UM6P) is seeking applications for a permanent position as a Technician specializing in Plant Tissue Culture.

Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree with a professional experience in Plant Tissue Culture. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing scientific research in the laboratory and organizing/carrying out fieldwork.

Key duties:

Successful candidate is expected to:

• Have a good experience in lab/fieldwork.
• Assist in organizing and launching research activities.
• Collect, support, and process samples for routine laboratory tests.
• Possess substantial experience in research within the field of plant tissue culture, encompassing tasks such as media preparation, culture initiation, maintenance of mother plants, transfers, multiplication, rooting, acclimatization, and equipment maintenance.
• Prepare stock solutions and optimize media requirements for different species and stages of growth and safely dispose of chemical and biological waste.
• Have expertise in plant cell, tissue, and organ culture including organogenesis, somatic embryogenesis, and cell suspension culture.
• Maintain a clean working environment for plant tissue culture experiments under axenic conditions.
• Ability to follow standard operating procedures, keep exact, detailed records, and collect data.
• Contribute to general laboratory management and logistics.
• Have strong French and English communication skills. Both verbal and written, are required.

• Positive working attitude and ability to work both in a team and independently.
